In 2005, the sale of an oil and gas trading business in which I was a partner provided the liquidity event that allowed me to focus my attention on a second career in photography. It was the dawn of the digital age for cameras and I now had the time to travel to many unique places around the world, focusing primarily on wildlife and landscape photography. Along the way, I met and learned from a number of excellent photographers such as National Geographic photographers Joel Sartore, Kim Heacox and Rich Reid. Marc Muench and Andy Williams, co-founders of Muench Workshops have also been great mentors during this journey.
I enjoy both the technical challenge of getting the most from today's sophisticated cameras and post-processing software as well as the artistic challenge of composition and creativity - a great way to exercise the "left brain" and the "right brain”! I am a “Nikonian” and shoot exclusively with Nikon cameras and lenses. A highlight for me was a 2020 exhibit at the Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts in Houston called “Vistas and Voyages: The Photography of Don Pine”.
My images are for sale and I would welcome an opportunity to work with you to select and print an image that best fits your goals.
